Tight at the top as champions put skids on leaders Tekkers

Champions Polishborough upstaged Division One leaders Tekkers in the pick of the games in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League on Monday night.

The top tier action got under way at Surfleet’s Glen Park with in-form The Squad earning a 1-0 win over basement boys Mirror Signal Malouda.

The Squad are in great form and can’t stop impressing everyone, with their successful streak of wins proving they are worthy of challenging at the top end.

Once again, Reagan Brown was named man of the match (MOTM), making it four for the season.

Then came the big battle between Tekkers and Polishborough, who have quite the rivalry. In a game that swung one way and then the other, the Poles emerged as 3-2 winners. The game would have ended a lot differently if MOTM Josh Faulkner wasn’t as persistent throughout.

Game three showcased another rivalry of sorts, as Simple FC took on Evolution.

After a largely even start, Evolution struck first and Simple seemed to lose their focus before the second goal arrived from the last kick of the game to make it 2-0. MOTM in this one was Jason Clow.

Another thrilling performance from second-placed You’ve Got No Fans followed, as they saw off Pro Ballers by a three-goal margin.

YGNF, who are now level with Tekkers, knew what they were doing as they attacked vigorously and took full advantage of Pro Ballers inability to score. Guy Mantle was MOTM here.

The next game was a walkover, with Univeg Team handed a 5-0 win over no-shows Old Boy Coaches.

They have now been removed from the league and will be replaced.

Meanwhile, the final game in the top tier saw East Europa edge out Notinmymums Forest 3-2 in an electrifying match. Europa’s winner came in the last minute, but didn’t stop Chris Hall gaining the MOTM prize.

Division Two kicked off with a flourish, as BK’s Athletic went head-to-head with Posh Old Boys and picked up a 4-3 triumph.

Although Posh bossed possession, it was another late goal – this time from BK’s – which settled the clash.

Elliot Kulles stood out as the MOTM in this clash.

More goals flowed in game two, as FC Barnicols claimed a 4-2 success over struggling Bowlcut Wanderers.

MOTM Liam Lachasseigne came through for his team with his drive and competitive streak.

It’s now eight wins on the trot for leaders Puyol Pants Down, who maintained their 100 per cent start to the campaign with a 4-0 drubbing of Tekkerslovakia. It was a comfortable and content showing from the Puyol lads as they overcame their latest obstacle with ease.

Tyler Wright got his third MOTM award of the season in this one.

After that, Nibblesborough FC grabbed a vital win in their hunt for promotion as they beat rivals The TBME 3-1 in an end-to-end game.

Star man Jordan Graham was on song as Nibblesborough leapfrogged their opponents into third in the table.

The penultimate game of the Division Two action saw first win of the season for Dynamo Kiev, who beat Ballotellitubbies 5-4 to kick-start their stuttering campaign.

MOTM Michael Cope was on fire for the Tubbies with four goals, but some lacklustre defending ensured that he actually ended up on the losing side.

The night ended with Mail Carters grabbing an eyebrow-raising 3-3 draw with second-placed Sarah’s Boys.

It proved a very entertaining game as Carters found an attacking prowess that has eluded them in previous weeks. Marcus Gilbertson snatched MOTM in this one.
