Night time closures of A16 announced

Part closures of the A16 have been announced around the McDonald’s/Springfields junction.

The night time closures will be so resurfacing work can take place.

The A16 will be closed southbound between the roundabout and Low Fulney roundabout for three evenings from Tuesday, May 28.

It will then be closed northbound overnight between the McDonald’s/Springfields roundabout junction with the A151 and the Wardentree Lane junction from Friday, May 31, Monday June 3 and Tuesday June 4.

The diversion for the northbound closure is from A16 to Sutterton Roundabout / A17 to Peppermint Roundabout / A151 to Springfields Roundabout, and vice versa

The southbound diversion will be A16 to Applegreen Roundabout / A1175 to Market Deeping Roundabout / A15 to Bourne (Cherry Holt Road) / A151 to Springfields Roundabout, and vice versa.

Lincolnshire County Council’s Highways team say more closures will need to be carried out later on in January.

It comes just days after it was announced part of Wardentree Lane would be closed for eight weeks from July for the ongoing works on the next junction north.

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways, said: “We’re now at the stage in the scheme where we’re ready to start laying new road surfacing as part of our Springfield Roundabout improvements – but, to safely carry out this work, we need to close off the sections of roundabout where we’ll be working.

“We’ll be carrying these works out as efficiently as possible to ensure the closures aren’t in place any longer than they need to be. We’ve also scheduled them for nights to help keep disruption down.

“I want to thank everyone in advance for their patience.”
