Sunday round-up: Kirton Town take over at summit, Sutton St James fire 13 in Shield

Kirton Town made it four wins from four in the Spalding and District Sunday League at the weekend to climb to the top of the table.

They defeated Long Sutton Athletic Sunday 4-0 at Graves Park to keep their perfect start intact, with Aaron Bradshaw, Ashley Davis, Chris Hilton and an own goal settling the clash.

They are three points clear of previous leaders Sutton St James and Jubilee, with the latter jumping into second after crushing hosts South Holland United 7-0 on Sunday.

Tom Elderkin led the charge with a hat-trick, while Jack Wycherley (2), Matt Barnett and Jake Cawthorne were also on the mark.

Meanwhile, Up The Fish FC Reds beat Fosdyke Sunday 3-0 to go fourth. Aiden Bingham, Jordan Clow and Mark Foster got the goals at Monkshouse Playing Field.

Away from the league action, red-hot Sutton St James thrashed hosts FC Kirton Sunday 13-0 in the John Chappell Shield.

Four players shared the goals, with both Joseph Sutton and Edwin Pentney smashing four each. Jake Lally also weighed in with a hat-trick, while Kurt Scott netted a double.

The star of the day was Josh Ford, however, as he bagged a double hat-trick in Mulberry’s 8-0 John Chappell Shield win over Pinchbeck United Sunday. Ashley Coddington and Ryan Mills rounded off the rout.
