Sunday football: Seven-up Sutton SJ tonk previously unbeaten Kirton Town

Rampant Sutton St James thrashed previously unbeaten Spalding and District Sunday League leaders Kirton Town Sunday 7-0 in the stand-out result of the weekend.

Goals from Kurt Scott (2), Matt Eaton, Mark Garner, Adam Groves, Jack Murley and Joseph Sutton gave super St James a fourth win from as many league games so far this season – and moved them up to second in the table.

Kirton, meanwhile, fall to third – although only goal difference is keeping both sides off the summit.

Leading the way are Jubilee, who walloped Up The Fish FC Reds 7-2 to rack up their fourth win from five games.

Both Matt Barnett and Ryan Wheeler hit doubles for Paul Rudkin’s side, while Jake Cawthorne, Kev Nottingham, Martin Sandall and Steve Sinfield were also on target.

Marcus Parry replied with a double for Fish, who also had Jordan Clow sent off.

Sunday’s only other league match saw FC Kirton record their first win of the season after a virtuoso display from Leandro Bruges. He netted all four goals in a 4-1 success at Fosdyke Sunday, who replied through Jamie Clark.

In the Lincs Sunday Cup, the stand-out game saw Mulberry outgunned 7-6 at AFC Golden Eagle.

Despite trailing 5-1 at half-time, Ryan Mills (3), Alex Garner and Ryan Kirchin netted to make it 6-6 at the end of 90 minutes. They eventually lost in extra time, though.
