Six-a-side soccer: EPH Allstars ease relegation fears

Relegation-threatened EPH Allstars eased their fears in Spalding Leisure League as they beat already-doomed Balotellitubbies 6-0.

It took EPH a while to break through, thanks in part to a man of the match – and slightly heroic – performance from Andrew Evans.

Univeg Team beat Ultra D 2-1. Both keepers put in inspired performances, Univeg’s Jake Read getting his fourth man of the match this season and Ultra D’s Tommy Ivatt had a ‘worldy’ performance.
The defeat drops Univeg into the relegation mix, along with EPH Allstars and Simple FC, going into the final week.

Champions Brennans Sports trounced Simple FC 5-0, the match overshadowed by a dislocated collarbone for Brennans’ Tom Cherry. Team-mate Tyler Wright was man of the match.

Meanwhile, the result which ultimately handed Brennans the title was Polishborough losing 3-0 to Baltic United. Edgaras Buzas got a seventh man of the match and is guaranteed the player of the season award.

In the second division, Luis Suarez Ate My Hamster – playing their penultimate game – beat Dynamo Kiev 1-0 to move out of the bottom two. Juan Carlos Escober was the star turn.

League leaders Posh Old Boys beat Sarah’s Boys 2-0 in a polished and tidy performance, with Will Kirkham MoM. They are just a win away from the title next week.

Mail Carters lost 1-0 to Le Saux Solid Crew, which consigns them to the wooden spoon. Luke Forknall getting man of the match in this game.

Old Boy Coaches took the title destination into the final week as they hammered Class On Grass 4-1. MoM was Trevor Laud.
