Pinchbeck United under-15s are the Star turns with thrilling PNS win

Pinchbeck United under-15s edged out Peterborough Northern Star under-15s 4-3 in a cracking contest.

Alfie Fox fired Pinchbeck ahead early on after a a clever through ball from Sam Bracegirdle, then Dan Taylor scrambled home the second from a corner.

An own goal got Star back in at 2-1 as the half-time whistle sounded, but the two-goal lead was restored when Ben Mansour drilled a free kick in for Taylor to get his second goal.

Keeper Jamie Nicholls made a super penalty save to keep out Star, before a sweeping pass from Mansour out to Fox allowed him to crash home a fine fourth.

PNS bagged two more goals of their own, but Pinchbeck held firm.

  • Spalding United Orange under-16s continued their winning ways with a 3-1 win at Thurlby Tigers under-16s.

It was Thurlby who found the net five minutes before half time, but Spalding equalised early in the second half through Ollie Green.

Excellent goalkeeping from Zack Brown stopped Thurlby going back ahead – setting the stage for Dan Gildon and Jamie Beeston to score to wrap up the win for Orange.

  • Young Dons under-9s won two games over the weekend to make progress in the Plate Competition.

First up they beat Ruskington A 3-0 thanks to goals from Freddie Burdell, Callum Walker and Theo Snade.

The next game against Horncastle saw Young Dons full of confident – and they raced to a 4-0 victory.

Burdell once again opened the scoring, before Reece Rebbetts rampaged down the wing and crossed for Walker to score. Rebbets then scored himself, leaving Oliver Baxter to round off the scoring.

  • Holbeach United under-15s battled to a goal-laden 5-4 win over Stanground under-15s.

Harry Collishaw’s goal put the Tigers 1-0 up at the break, the before Fenn Storey smashed home number two.

Liam Sandall then crossed for Lewis Turner to make it 3-0, only for Star to hit back with two quick goals.

Sandall fired home to restore Holbeach’s two-goal lead, before some late madness score the scoreline end up 5-4 in Holbeach’s favour.
