PDFL round-up: Long Sutton Atheltic edge nine-goal thriller with rivals Tydd St Mary

Long Sutton Athletic outgunned rivals Tydd St Mary 5-4 in a ChromaSport PDFL Division One classic on Saturday.

The Magpies climbed back into third place after edging the goal-laden derby at London Road, with Eric Makate (2), Macauley Grimwood, Billy Oliver and Brad Murrell getting the goals.

Tydd, who led 2-1 at half-time, scored through Jason Bradshaw, Stuart Brown, Jake Clithero and a Sutton own goal. They slip to fourth place, two points behind Sutton with two games in hand.

Fellow Division One side Moulton Harrox Reserves booked their place in the PFA Challenge Cup final with a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Eye United.

Declan Earth notched twice for Kev Nottingham’s side, with Martin Sandall and Jack Wycherley the other scorers.

They will face Stamford Belvedere in the final.

Staying in the second tier, Crowland Town earned a creditable 1-1 draw with promotion-chasing Polonia at Snowden Field.

Up in the Premier Division, Holbeach United Reserves enjoyed a 4-1 victory over AFC Stanground Sports at Carter’s Park.

Jordan Keeble, Steve Barnes, Jonny Allen and Fenn Storey netted for Phil Barnes’ side, who had John Smith sent off.

In Division Two, Spalding United Reserves remain in relegation trouble after a 4-3 home reverse against Parkway Eagles.

Goals from Daniel Goddard (2) and Ben Mansour weren’t enough for the Tulips.

Also beaten were Tydd St Mary Reserves in Division Four. They went down 4-0 at home to FC Peterborough Reserves.
