Ashley Rudd had a good day at round five of Norfolk and Suffolk Motocross Club’s championship.

The 15-year-old rider for Holbeach-based TRM Racing was first overall in the schoolboy 250 category at the Great Hockham meet on Sunday.

The key to his victory among the field of about 30 riders was getting the hole shot in the second and third races.
He led from start to finish in the third run to grab the overall win.

The second race had started in similar fashion for him but he was taken down after he’d been passed and the new leader crashed in front of him.
But Ashley recovered well to grab a third place finish and keep himself on course for the overall win.
He took second place in the first race of the day.

It wasn’t a good event for Ashley’s elder brother Ryan (18).
A really poor start in the first race hampered him and he could only manage a tenth-place finish.
It got worse in race two with a pair of crashes leaving him struggling in 15th.
It was at least a better finish to the day for Ryan, with fourth in the final race but eighth overall was a disappointing result.

Younger sibling Kieran (9) excelled against more experienced riders in the juniors category. A pair of thirds and a second place gave him second overall.
