Mo braves freezing temperatures to complete a painting every day for 30 January days

One of South Holland’s top artists has completed a tough outside challenge to paint a landscape every day but one throughout January.

Mo Teeuw ventured out in all weathers every day from New Year’s Day to last Friday.
On one occasion the temperature was so low that the paints on her easel froze.

Mo, a professional artist and experienced tutor from Moulton, wasn’t even able to warm up with a hot toddy on her return home because she was also taking part in alcohol-free Dry January!

moMo (pictured) said: “It was certainly a challenge!
“When it was really, really cold it was tough going.

“What have I learnt? I know now that, if I can do it in freezing temperatures, rain and strong winds then, well, I’ve got no excuse!
“On Sunday – the first day after completing the challenge – I had some family around for lunch and a glass of wine and I have to say that I really enjoyed it!”

The inspiration for the challenge came from American Leslie Saeta, who had 1,483 fellow artists doing the same in the United States.

Mo’s paintings included landscapes in Norfolk, Surrey and Lincolnshire.
She said: “I love the skyscape – the skies are amazing.”

Spalding power station and Moulton parish church doorway from which she emerged as a married woman 43 years ago were among her subjects.

Mo said: “It was a good way for artists to kickstart the year. I will do it again – but maybe in the summertime!”
All of the paintings are on display at The Lincolnshire Gallery in Spalding Common until the end of February.

Each painting unframed is £190 with 30 per cent of proceeds going to a multiple sclerosis charity. The Lincolnshire Gallery will frame any for half price.

Mo is offering painting holidays in France in April and May. Details at http://moteeuwart.blogspot.co.uk/
