Medals galore for South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club swimmers at county meet

South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club won an amazing haul of medals at the Lincs ASA County Championships.

A relatively small team attended, with 14 girls and six boys brought home 12 gold, 20 silver and 20 bronze medals, as well as seeing three junior champions crowned, winning one junior silver and one junior bronze.

To complete their haul the Spalding club boasted one senior champion and one senior bronze medallist.

Ellisha Cookson (age 14/u) was the most successful swimmer with five golds in the 200m free, 400m free, 800m free, 50m breaststroke, 100m breaststroke and 200m IM, as well as bronze in the 50m free, 100m free and 100m IM.

Mollie Briggs (14/u) managed silver in the 200m fly and bronze in the 400m free, while Hannah Wills (13/u) took Bronze in the 800m free, 200m backstroke and 200m fly.

Emma Croker (12/u) also impressed, taking silver in the 800m free, 100m free, 100m back, 200m back, plus bronze in the 50m free, 100m back and 50m fly – claiming four club records in the process.

There was success for some of the young swimmers debuting, too.

Beatrice Finch (12) and Oliver Sorrell (10/over) won silver in the 100m IM and bronze in the 200m free respectively, while Nitesh Anbazhagan (12/u) bagged bronze in the 100m breaststrike.

Ellie O’Brien (10/over) landed the gold in the 50m fly, while Daisy Rummery impressed with silvers in the 50m back, 100m back and 200m back, plus bronze in the 200m free and 400m free.

Meanwhile, Aurinjia Maliauskaite romped to gold in both the 50m free and 100m free.

Dusty Saines impressed too, landing gold in the 100m IM, silver in the 50m fly and bronze in the 100m back, 100m fly, 200m IM and 400m IM.

Not to be outdone, Esther Skells achieved qualifying times for all 14 of her events.

The small band of older boys representing the club were Ryan Horrocks (17/o) and Luke Blanchard (17/u), who grabbed gold in 1,500m free, silver in 200m breaststroke, bronze in 50m breaststroke, 200m fly and 400m IM.

Atticus Strickland (15/u) secured gold in the 1,500m free and four silvers in the 400m free, 200m fly, 100m fly and 400m IM, while Edward Skells (14/u) picked up silver in the 50m backstroke.

Elsewhere, Andre Ubaviciute (13/o) achieved qualifying times in the 100m free, 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke finals.

Lucy and Libby Houghton (15) swam in the 50m breaststroke, 200m breaststroke, while Lucy also competed in the 100m breaststroke.
