Kilby marches to triumph on Tydd Gote Angling Club’s away day

Some impressive leading weights were recorded as Tydd Gote Angling Club members had an away day and fished their Sunday club match on the 20 foot at Shepson’s Bridge in March.

Out in front from a peg two down from the bridge was Andrew Kilby with some quality rudd up to a pound, caught on waggler tight across on his maggot hook bait.

He boosted his weight with a good tench of nearly 3lb on his worm line for a total of 15lb 6oz.

Second, next to the winner and on the end peg, was Rob Wright with a big tench and some rudd and skimmers for 10lb 12oz.

Upstream from the bridge there were fewer fish, so Dick Paul patiently waited for his two good bream to worm for 7lb 6oz and third spot, with Dave Simmonds also finding a 3lb bream to go with his bits for 5lb 8oz.

Best of those without a bonus fish was Steve Borrett with a rudd and small skimmer net of 5lb 2oz.

Wednesday Open (Main Road): 1st Pete Emery 15lb 8oz; 2nd Martin Roper 4lb 4oz; 3rd Archie Greenwood 4lb

Thursday Evening Club Match: 1st Paul Bowden 6lb 12oz; 2nd Archie Greenwood 4lb 15oz; 3rd Jamie Cooper 3lb 6oz.

  • James Fennelow emerged victorious in Holbeach and District Angling Club’s latest match at Sharp’s Bridge on Sunday.

Amid good conditions that saw a breeze flow up the river, Fennelow was victorious from peg 21 with a net of 4lb 12oz, taking silver fish on the tip and whip.

A close second was Gary Boxhall with 4lb 7oz, while third place went to Stu Chapman from peg four with 4lb in weight.

The club was pleased to see 21 anglers in action. This Sunday’s match is at Main Road bridge (7.30am draw), with new members welcome.
