FAIR TO MEDALLING: Spalding’s girls all impressed for Lincolnshire at New College, Leicester.

Gr-eight showing from Spalding girls to boost county

All eight Spalding Gymnastic Club members won medals as they represented Lincolnshire at the regional floor and vault competition.

Held at New College in Leicester, the Spalding girls helped steer the county to second overall.

In the age eight and nine years age group, Maisie Foden won a bronze medal with her team, while at ten and 11 years Lily Thompson and Lucia Kato both sealed silver medals.

Talented Thompson was also the overall regional age group champion, with team-mate Kato third.

More medals came in the 12/13 years category, the team of Liberty Foden, Katie Marie Parker and Miah Farrell took second to win the silver medal.

Also impressing in the 14+ age group were Alex Osbiston and Maddi Redhead, who both collected silver medals.

  • Spalding entered two junior teams and two senior teams at the county boys invitational team floor and vault competition, which was held at their Cradge Bank base.

Teams from Northamptonshire, Derbyshire and Lincoln who took part in the event – and the standard was very high.

Although the junior teams was not placed, they were a credit to the club and performed very well. The same can be said about the senior teams, who had a more difficult task performing to a much higher code.

However, the team of Ross Chapman, Luke Waterson and Daniel Martin gained a bronze medal to ensure the home team walked away with a prize.
