The Voice of Spalding and South Holland
Promoted Posh Old Boys announced themselves in the top flight of The Spalding and South Holland Voice Six-A-Side League with an impressive 2-2 draw against champions Brennans last Monday night.
On what was another fantastic night of football at Surfleet’s Glen Park, the top tier got under way with EPH Allstars going down 2-1 to a hard-working Notinmymums Forest.
Following on from last week’s defeat, it was another disappointing result for EPH which saw them spend Christmas rock bottom.
In contrast, the Forest boys responded brilliantly from their defeat last week with a decent, polished performance on a breezy evening. EPH had a good share of possession but couldn’t find a way past Forest ‘keeper Simon Howard who put in a man of the match (MOTM) masterclass in goal.
Match two was a secure victory for Baltic United as they came out 3-1 winners in a physical affair against You’ve Got No Fans. Ivais Lazdins got MOTM in this one with a superb performance alongside Edgaras Buzas, who was in his usual top-notch form.
You’ve Got No Fans are still looking for their first win as they look to cut out the silly mistakes at the back, while Baltic sat joint top over the festive period.
Match three was a convincing win for Univeg Team as they turned out 4-0 winners against a downtrodden Pinchbeck United. Univeg have started the season really well with a regular solid squad which could see them as dark-horse title challengers.
Pinchbeck will be rueing their missed chances as they struggled to cope with the fast breakaway play from Univeg Team. Ricardo was given the nod as MOTM.

The fourth game of the division was a battle of the champions with last year’s Division One winners Brennans taking on second tier champions Posh Old Boys.
It was a juggernaut battle and a well-earned, credible point for Posh, who managed to hang on for a 2-2 draw. Shane Miller was in inspired form for the lads in lime green as they sit fifth.
The next top flight tussle saw Polishborough secure top spot with a convincing 4-0 win over Wet Dream Team.
Despite playing the last few minutes a man down thanks to a sin-bin, Polishborough managed to hold on for the comfortable points.
Their impressive goal difference sits them top as they look to go one better than last season. The Dream Team struggled to find the same level of performance that earned them a credible draw last week.
Tomasz Rabiega claimed the MOTM gong.
The final game of the division saw Ultra D edge past Old Boy Coaches 1-0.
It was a tight game with little offered by either side, but eventually the pressure of playing two games in one night got to the Old Boy Coaches legs and the youthful sprinting of MOTM Adam Winyard and the Ultra D boys proved enough as they wrapped up the points.
The second tier got under way with Mail Carters narrowly missing out on their first points of the campaign with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Tekkerslovakia.
The impressive defence of the Tekkers lads saw them keep a second clean sheet in a row, with Luke Forknall the MOTM. Mail Carters will be encouraged, though, as they look a much better outfit than the team that struggled at the bottom last season.
Game two saw Evolution carry on their 100 per cent record as they recorded a 2-1 win over Sarah’s Boys.
In what was a physical game, Evolution looked organised and slick as they brought their 11 a-side experience to the smaller game. Richard Cundall was the MOTM to make the difference.
The third match saw Borrussia Teeth go down 2-0 to a solid and organised Dynamo Kiev side.
Zack Lucas and his Dynamo lads were on impressive from the get-go as they recorded their second straight win. Borrussia now sit rock bottom as they desperately try and find a salvo from their squad. JJ Ivatt was given MOTM by referee Richard Wilde.

Older Boys Coaches then drew 1-1 with BK’s Athletic in an engrossing tie as a battle of playing styles cancelled each other out.
Coaches deployed an organised game plan against BK Athletic’s fast-moving pass and play style of football.
It was an entertaining game for the neutral though and sees both teams wedged in mid-table. Luke Russon was given the nod for MOTM in this game.
Game five was Balotellitubbies against Le Saux Solid Crew.
Unfortunately, it had to be abandoned during the second half following a serious injury to a Le Saux Solid Crew player. At the time the score was 3-1 to Balotellitubbies – and with less than ten minutes to go the result will stand.
The final game of the night was Simple FC, in their new all-white kits, against Goaldiggers.
The Goaldiggers lads looked slightly unorganised and out-of-sorts and Simple FC lived up to their namesake. Simple football was effective and substantial as they ran out 2-1 winners. Dominic Mason given MOTM for this game.
The result sees Simple FC second as they look to bounce straight back into the top tier.
