F4 star Hoggard picks up pair of top eight finishes at Oulton Park

West Hills racer Johnathan Hoggard fell to eighth in the F4 British Championship standings after a pair of solid finishes at Oulton Park over the weekend.

The Fortec Motorsports ace placed eighth and seventh at the Cheshire circuit, before retiring from the last race.

Hoggard qualified fifth for round ten in a time of 1.23.404mins, with pole taken by Kiern Jewiss (1.22.980mins).

However, he slipped down to eighth at the chequered flag in the first race of the weekend – finishing some 9.267secs behind winner Dennis Hauger (Arden).

That saw him line-up in eighth position for round 11, which was dominated by a lights-to-flag victory from title hopeful Ayrton Simmons (JHR). Hoggard did manage to climb up to seventh by the close, having been involved in a fight for fifth with Patrik Pasma (Arden), Hauger (Arden) and Manuel Sulaiman (JHR).

A sixth-place start to round 12 saw Hoggard in with a sniff of grabbing more points for Fortec, but he was unable to finish following a clash with Simmons.

That means that South Holland speedster left Oulton Park in eighth place in the overall standings on 96 points – some 110 behind series leader Kiern Jewiss (Double R), who won the final round.
