Duo hit doubles as Sutton Bridge clinch Inter Services Cup

Both Matt Eaton and Ben English scored braces as Sutton Bridge United beat great rivals Long Sutton Athletic 4-2 in the final of the Spalding Inter Services Cup on Saturday.

In front of 200 fans at Carter’s Park, Bridge took the local bragging rights despite strikes from Sean Gedney and Samuel Moses for the Magpies.

Pinchbeck United, meanwhile, slipped to a 4-3 loss at Langtoft United in the ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division.

Goals from Mark Thompson (2) and Ryan Leggett weren’t enough for Ian Dunn’s side.

A Stephen Wells strike earned Crowland Town a 1-1 draw at Deeping Reserves to help their survival bid, but relegation-threatened Holbeach Reserves lost 2-1 at home to leaders Oakham United.

In Division One, Moulton Harrox Reserves marched to a 2-1 triumph at ICA Sports Reserves after goals from Declan Earth and Nigel Steadman.

Down in Division Two, an unfortunate red card for Spalding United Reserves’ Liam Harrison cost them dear as they lost 4-0 at home to chief title rivals ICA Sports A.

Harrison was sent off on 30 minutes, with Spalding already 1-0 down following Dale Martin’s headed effort.

Jack Wycherley then saw a penalty saved, before Harrison was sent off conceding a spot-kick at the other end.

Jonathan Griggs buried the penalty and soon added his second, before Michael Fasulo completed the scoring.

In the same division, depleted Pinchbeck United Reserves were handed a 5-0 home reverse by Coates Athletic A.

Elsewhere, Martin Sandall fired another hat-trick as Spalding Town cruised to a 6-0 success over Stilton United Reserves.

Andrew Williams, Mark Astley and Dean Grummitt also notched for Chris Page’s title-chasing side.

Also winners were Tydd St Mary, who saw off Peterborough PL United.

Darren Rawthorn, Michael Ocock, Scott Pemberton and Gary Simons – three minutes from time – got the goals.

Jamie Lee Forman struck twice in Division Four to help Holbeach Bank win 4-3 at Rutland DR.

Danny Hunt and Warren Skeels were also on the scoresheet.

Sutton Bridge United Reserves came from behind to draw 2-2 with Eye United as Joe Harrison struck twice.
