Baytree Nurseries Garden Centre at Weston has donated 300 presents to the appeal. Receiving them from Santa and his elf are Voice editor Rachel Mayfield and Harry Drury and Jacob Bell, of We’ll Let Your House.

Christmas wishes will come true

The Give A Gift Appeal has received a huge boost this week thanks to Baytree Garden Centre donating 300 presents.

The gifts donated by the Weston garden centre will be added to scores of amazing gifts given by our incredibly generous readers, ensuring children who wouldn’t normally get a present will have a happier Christmas.

Harry Drury, of We’ll Let Your House, said: “I would personally like to thank Baytree for giving such admiral and extraordinary support to the local community.”

John Birch, of Baytree, said: “This is a very worthwhile cause and one that we have helped to support since it was set up. Christmas is first and foremost about family time and to see a child’s face when he or she opens a present is a joy to behold that words alone cannot describe.”

The Spalding and South Holland Voice teamed up with We’ll Let Your House to launch the appeal and kicked it off with £200 of toys bought from The Spalding and South Holland Voice Community Fund.

Since then readers have been getting on board leaving gifts at the drop-off points across South Holland.

But we can never have too many gifts, so while you’re doing any last minute Christmas shopping please consider buying an extra present to donate.

The appeal closes at 5pm on Thursday (December 17), so if you have a gift you would like to donate please get it to one of the collection points before then.

Support from local organisations, including Home Start, will ensure donations go to families that really need them.

We’ll be delighted if you decide to support the appeal but ask you please not to gift wrap your present – they need to be assessed to ensure families receive toys suitable for their child’s age and gender.

We are accepting gifts suitable for children from birth to age 13.

Unfortunately we cannot accept secondhand toys, chocolate or make-up.

There are several collection points in Spalding where you can leave your donations:
