Spalding’s Parnell will be among the many at ‘Last One’ meet at King’s Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena

There’s a huge evening of racing incoming at the Adrian Flux Arena in King’s Lynn as the sport of banger racing says farewell to one of its most popular and unsung heroes.

A meeting dubbed ‘The Last One For Number 1’ with reference to his racing number, Dutchman Maarten Steenbekkers chose the King’s Lynn circuit – widely renowned for being the best in the sport – to have his farewell meeting.

Around 100 cars are anticipated at the meet, with a number of drivers plumping for the big American car, which is affectionately known as a Yank Tank and is Steenbekkers favourite machine.

All cars will be racing in a pre-1990s format so anything racing will be over 30 years old.

Some weird and wonderful machinery will be in action and the bangers will be putting on a great show.

Indeed, previous testimonial events at the Adrian Flux Arena have always been firm fan favourites.

As if the Bangers wouldn’t be enough to entertain the anticipated large crowd, the 1300 Stock Cars have also been add to the line-up.

They are superb value for money at King’s Lynn and around 28 of them are anticipated.

Caine Parnell (229) from Spalding will be the one to watch from South Holland.

He’s been having a good year so far at King’s Lynn and will be hoping for more of the same on Saturday.

Advance ticket sales have now closed, but tickets will be available from the box office after 2pm on the day.

The venue are anticipating this to be busy, but not a sell-out – so there should be plenty of tickets available on the day.

The first race will get under way at 5pm.
