Spalding Town all done up to the nines to keep title bid alive

Three players hit braces as Spalding Town kept their ChromaSport Peterborough League Division Three title charge firmly on track with a whopping 9-1 win over Riverside Reserves on Saturday.

Sam Deykin, Martin Sandall and Markus Parry all bagged two apiece at the Castle Sports Complex, with Gavin Bailey, Gary Booth and Ben Holland also notching.

The dominant win leaves Chris Page’s Town just five points off leaders Hampton Sport with three games in hand.

In the same division, Scott Pemberton’s double – including a 71st minute leveller – earned Tydd St Mary a 2-2 home draw with Glinton and Northborough.

Up in the Premier Division, Crowland Town drew their basement battle 1-1 at Leverington Sports. Scott Dellaway’s goal ensures that it’s as you were at the foot with both sides in the drop zone.

Holbeach United Reserves are just two points above those two after slipping to a 2-1 defeat at Riverside.

In Division One, goals from Mark Garner and Tim Lowe earned struggling Long Sutton Athletic a decent 2-2 draw with fifth-placed Ryhall United at London Road.

Moulton Harrox Reserves, meanwhile, suffered a 6-0 beating at AFC Stanground and remain in the bottom two.

Also defeated were Sutton Bridge United, who lost 3-1 at Coates Athletic Reserves despite a strike from talisman Matt Eaton.

Tyler Wright was the toast of Pinchbeck United Reserves in Division Two, as his hat-trick clinched a 3-2 victory over Oakham United Reserves at Knight Street.

Also on fine form were Crowland Town Reserves, who romped to a 5-1 victory at Coates Athletic A thanks to strikes from Corban Oldham (2), Ashton Capes (2) and Kevin Cunningham.

It was raining goals in Division Four, with Sutton Bridge Reserves leading the way with a 10-2 triumph over Leverington Sports A. Ray Points hit four of those, while Nicholas Lee (2), Liam Jarman (2), Steven Rogers and Nicky Scott also notching.

Holbeach Bank, meanwhile, were 5-0 winners over Huntingdon Rovers.

In Division Five, leaders Whaplode Drove suffered a 2-0 home loss to title rivals FC Peterborough, while Holbeach A drew 2-2 at Parkside Reserves thanks to goals from Ben Gibbons and Robert Lewsley.

Tydd Reserves won 6-2 at Ryhall A as Kyle Davis struck a treble. Dean Twaite-Smith, Dan Chapman and Jake Hinton-Penta also bagged.
