Spalding and District Summer Darts League returns

Monday saw the start of 2022 Spalding and District Summer Darts league.

A spokesman for the league said: “It’s now back up to 16 teams which is great after these difficult times.”

In Division 1 Tigers A enjoyed an amazing 9-0 win against Bell Weston Hills and did not drop a leg all night on the way.

Tigers’ Gary Mace slotted in a 180 and there was also good check outs including a 115 for Claire Brooking and a 121 for Duggie Mcinerney who also had an 18 dart leg.

Scott Williams kept up his fine form with a 17 and 18 dart leg.

Last seasons winners Consti A started off strong with an 8-1 win against Rose and Crown, Adam Brand being the only winner for the Rose and Crown.

On the night Steve Urch had a 180 and 109 check out while Nick Moyses fired in a 180 and a 15 dart leg and a 116 check out.

The start of the season seemed to be night for top quality darts and Consti D, who were promoted last time, won 5-4 against Lincoln Arms with singles wins for Geoff Herd, Colin Beckett and Ady Smith being enough to clinch the win.

Simon Barnett hit a 180, Andy Habden had a 17 dart leg, while Steve Stancer had a 116 check out and an 18 dart leg.

Other good check outs were 105 for Ted Howling, 112 for Luke Rhodes and 109 for Geoff Herd.

In Division Two, new team Consti C got their first victory over another new team, Palmers Long Sutton. Singles wins for Jack Morton, Mark Elsey and Nick Savic tipped the edge for Consti C.

Draymans Arms started off well with a 6-3 win against another new team in Royal Mail Cart B.

Five wins out of six in the singles was what turned the match for the Draymans with wins for Ian Tilley, John Charlton, Vlad Fominkas, Nigel Goodwin and Lesley Chamberlain. Vlad hit a 180 in his win.

Maples Services won a close game against Punchbowl 5-4. Wins for Morgan Sandison, Chris Ayre, Sandy Sandison and Ellie Calaghan was enough to seal the victory.
