PICK THAT OUT: Posh’s Simon Black is beaten by one of Puyol Pants Down’s five goals.

Polishborough handed first-ever back-to-back beatings as Univeg impress

Formidable Polishborough suffered successive defeats for the first time in The Spalding and South Holland six-a-side League on Monday thanks to an inspired showing from Univeg Team.

Their 3-1 success over the former champions in the Premier Division was the pick of the results on another action-packed night at Surfleet’s Glen Park.

The top tier kicked off with newbies Warriors facing their first test against a slightly off-colour Predators.

In what was an entertaining and enthralling tie, defensively savvy Warriors were powerless to stop man-of-the-match (MOTM) Jordan Clow and his Predators side as they prevailed 1-0.

The next game was the shock of the night, as Polishborough suffered their second straight defeat for the first time since joining the league over a year ago. This week’s loss came to a Univeg Team who were delighted to have attained a 3-1 win and, for once, were lethal in front of goal.

The Poles created chance after chance, but MOTM Univeg keeper Jake Read constantly pulled off smart stops to help his side clinch a third win on the spin.

AFC Supernova then produced a second-successive ‘no-show’ and have now been removed from the league. That meant Jimmy Floyd Bottlebank returned from a no-show of their own to secure a 5-0 win.

The final game of the evening, in the top tier, was an engrossing tie between two sides level at the peak of the table. You’ve Got No Fans and Football Club headed into their game knowing a win would see them top in their own right.

However, it ended 1-1 with a last-gasp equaliser for Football Club seeing them stay top of the pile. Guy Mantle was MOTM.

Pathetic Athletic and Simple FC got The Championship action under way with a a 1-1 stalemate.

An exciting enough tie, it was a defensive battle as neither side could really grab control on the midfield.

Trev Laud was MOTM as he provided a stern anchor for the Pathetic boys, while Dom Mason was a defensive powerhouse for Simple.

Match two was a non-starter after Nibblesborough pulled out of their fixture and signalled their intent to leave the league.

That meant Maly & Team were given a 5-0 win.

Meanwhile, Posh Old Boys collapsed as they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Puyol Pants Down in game three.

Prior to the game Posh were sitting top and going pretty well – but they met a Puyol side who seemingly wanted to run riot.

Posh drop three places after their disappointing showing – but their case wasn’t helped when influential frontman Will Kirkham was given a straight red card. Ryan Mills was MOTM for on-song Puyol.

In contrast, Romasexuals sustained their title-winning form with a 4-0 shutout against a disappointing Horse & Groom.

Damien Gibbons took the plaudits once again for Roma, with the pint-sized striker taking his fourth MOTM prize in seven games as his side went top of the tree.

League One started with Bowlcut Wanderers beating Dynamo Kiev 3-0 to confirm their third-placed position.

A one-sided match in which Bowlcut exerted the greater attacking threat throughout, it was a controlled, if not slightly dreary, start to the third tier.

Ricky Ivatt was the star man here after he secured MOTM, but any of the attacking line for Bowlcut could have secured the plaudits in this one.

This week Gladiators were moved from the top tier to the bottom – and they seem to have found their right level as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to ABCDE FC.

This was tight, hard-fought and interesting clash as both sides played a similar, on-the-ground style of play.

MOTM went to Reece Benton, but the game was soured by a broken wrist suffered by ABCDE FC skipper Dave Taylor.

Tekkerslovakia then beat Mail Carters 3-1 – but were perhaps tinged with disappointment as they leaked their first goal of the campaign. They’d previously played over 240 minutes of football without conceding.

Tekkerslovakia keeper Jamie Wroniak was in inspired form in between the sticks and took MOTM.

The final game of the night was a comfortable and one-sided victory for league leaders FC Salad Fingers, as they beat Loftus-Cheeky Nando’s 7-0.

Salad Fingers have the best attacking record across all three divisions – it’s pretty easy to see why.

Salad Fingers’ frontman Liam Barnett was MOTM in this one.
