Personal best times steer South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club to super sixth

South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club put in a strong showing at the final round of the Junior Lincs League at Louth.

The Spalding-based club were up against teams from Lincoln, Louth, Scunthorpe, Gainsborough and Grantham – and the swimmers recorded a host of personal best (PB) times.

The best individual result of the night fell to Ellisha Cookson (11), who finished second in the 11-year-old girls’ 50m butterfly. She recorded a new PB of 37.91secs.

Against stiff competition throughout the night, the team bagged many fourth and fifth place finishes which resulted in a solid sixth place finish overall.

That also saw them place sixth in the league – an improvement of two places from eighth in 2014 and 2013.

Head coach Callum Lawson said: “It is encouraging to see so many PBs this early in the season.

“I also really enjoyed watching the swimmers deliver the skills that we have been working so hard on in training when they were under pressure.

“It was great to see so many smiling faces at the end of the night. It is now back to the training routine of the pool and the gym before we compete again.”
