PDFL round-up: Harrox survive shoot-out to progress in PFA Senior Cup

Moulton Harrox were involved in the pick of the ChromaSport PDFL’s PFA Senior Cup ties on Saturday as they progressed on penalties after an eight-goal thriller.

They drew 4-4 with Peterborough Sports Development at Broad Lane, before winning 3-1 on penalties after extra time.

Their goals came from Dalius Kisla (30), Marcus Parry (60) and Joe Towsend (95 and 113), as they led 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 and 4-3 on the day before eventually sealing their place in the next round.

Also through are Holbeach United Reserves, who were 1-0 winners at Langtoft United.

Callum Simmonds got the only go for the Tigers at Manor Way Sports Ground, as they took their fine league form into the cup.

However, South Holland trio Long Sutton Athletic, Tydd and Sutton Bridge United are all out.

The Magpies were beaten 3-1 at Ketton, with James Ward getting their only goal.

Bridge were handed a 3-1 home reverse by Whittlesey Athletic, despite Matthew Wayman’s strike at Memorial Park.

Tydd were handed a 3-0 reverse at last year’s winners Netherton United.

Down in Division One, there were big wins for Crowland Town and Spalding Town, who saw off Wittering Harriers (5-2) and Kings Cliffe (7-1) respectively.

Ashton Capes (2), Luke Elsom, Andrew Maguire and Matt Smith were the scorers for Crowland at Snowden Field as they climbed into the top ten.

Ashley Wilson was the star man for Spalding Town, helping himself to four of the seven goals.

The others came from Tom Coote, Bede Finningan and Macauley Grimwood.

In Division Two, Whaplode Drove enjoyed their best day of the season so far as they walloped hosts Feeder 9-4.

Four players shared the goals, with Josh Ling (3), Jamie Steward (2), Danny Firth (2) and Harry Grigas (2) all netting.

Struggling Spalding Athletic had another tough day at the office, however, going down 6-0 at home to high-flying Premiair.

Down in Division Three, a goal from Shane Millar gave Long Sutton Athletic a 1-0 victory Oundle Town Reserves at London Road – and moved them up to fourth place in the table.

There was a 3-2 defeat for Holbeach Bank at high-flying Thorpe Wood Rangers, however, despite strikes from Ashley Allen and Ryan Howard.

Meanwhile, Division Four duo Holbeach United Sports and Tydd Reserves both made progress in the Minor Cup.

Sports were 2-1 winners at home to Whittlesey Athletic B, thanks to goals from Luke Cutts and Billy Jay Barnes.

Tydd edged out Eunice Huntingdon Reserves 3-2, with Stuart Easey (2) and Ben Gibbons getting the goals.
