TEAM FOCUS - POSH OLD BOYS: One of the league’s founding members, Posh Old Boys are an entertaining and confident bunch lads. Winning the second tier on its inaugural season, before slumping to relegation the season after, this campaign is all about reigniting the good times. Something they had done, before a brief stutter over the last fortnight. Skipper Daniel Newell said: “Our main aim is to win the league or achieve promotion to the top tier. With the quality of teams in our league we know this is going to be difficult – but we also know that if we can produce our best passing attacking football each week we can beat anyone. Without doubt winning the league in our first season is the main overall highlight in this league, we came in with no expectations so to win it was brilliant. The way we won it in the final game was phenomenal, knowing we needed to win added some pressure. That showed as we went three down, only to show great character and quality to come back and win it in the last minute.”

Gr-eight win over title rivals sends YGNF top of the Voice League table

You’ve Got No Fans put in the performance of the season so far in The Spalding and South Holland Voice six-a-side League as they thumped top tier title rivals Predators 8-0.

Last time the high-flying pair met at Surfleet’s Glen Park, it was The Predators who came away with a hard-fought 2-1 win – and most expected another close contest in Division One’s opener.

However, an eye-catching performance from YGNF, coupled with a woeful defensive display from The Predators, ensured that the result was a real eyebrow-raiser. YGNF were truly spectacular, displaying clever pass-and-move football matched with quick and progressive play.

Now top of the table, Guy Mantle was man of the match (MOTM) for the Fans lads.

Game two saw Polishborough head into their grudge match with title rivals Football Club on the back of two straight defeats.

In contrast, Football Club were full of confidence and perhaps slight favourites.

This was the night when the Polishborough of old was back on display, though, as they did enough to take home a brilliant 3-2 win.

The Poles Brazilian maestro Paulo Junior caught the eye as MOTM.

Univeg Team collected the default 5-0 win in game three as they were drawn to play in the division’s points match.

It sees them fourth and right in the mix at the top.

The final game of an intriguing top tier was Warriors against Jimmy Floyd Bottlebank.

Warriors started at lightening pace and scored the only goal of the game, but had a masterclass from MOTM keeper Lewis Livingstone ensured they won 1-0.

The Championship then got under way with Nibblesborough FC failing to play out the final week of their notice period.

Their no-show meant that Romasexuals were left without a game and as such have been awarded a 5-0.

Horse and Groom then halted their two-match losing streak with a brilliant win over a side on a two-match mini-revival, Pathetic Athletic.

They were really impressive and much-improved as they picked up a 2-0 triumph. Jack Dicker was MOTM here – his first for Horse and Groom.

The next game saw Simple FC make it three games without a win as they suffered a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Puyol Pants Down.

Puyol were good, but Simple were again well below-par and suffered as a result. They failed to exert any real pressure on the Puyol back line and were second-best throughout.

Puyol’s Cameron Walker was MOTM as his side climb up to third.

High-flying Maly & Team closed the middle tier with an expected 2-0 win over third-placed Posh Old Boys.

It’s now three straight wins for Maly and only Romasexuals can better their recent form. Adrian Kulicz was MOTM.

7-0, 5-0, 7-0, 6-0. That’s the last four results for the League One leaders FC Salad Fingers as they dominate at the peak of the table. This latest 6-0 win coming over the previously in-form ABCDE FC.

They remain unbeaten and lead a two-horse race with Tekkerslovakia. Brandon Harker was MOTM.

The above-mentioned Tekkerslovakia yet again matched the leaders with a big win as they beat Dynamo Kiev 4-0. Their task was, however, made slightly easier after Kiev were reduced to five following a red card.

Jake Scampion was MOTM in this one.

Third-placed Bowlcut Wanderers FC then smashed Gladiators 6-1 in a fiery but one-sided game. They’ve notched an impressive 20 goals in the last five games.

Front-man Michael Cope secured MOTM for them.

The final game of the night was a 3-3 draw between Mail Carters and Loftus-Cheeky Nando’s – but the game ended in hullabaloo.

Carters converted the penalty to level at 3-3, but then suffered a crushing blow of their own. They got the ball in the back of the net, only to have the game called as done moments before.

Both sides left aggrieved, but a draw was probably a fair reflection of the game. Wes Wilson was MOTM.
