MUCH HAPPIER: Boss Ian Dunn reckons Pinchbeck United are now settled after a tough start to the season.

Debut goal for Lovelace as ‘settled’ Pinchbeck United smash Riverside for six

Pinchbeck United stretched their unbeaten run to four games with an emphatic 6-0 win at basement boys Riverside on Saturday.

Tony Edwards struck a double in the ChromaSport Peterborough League Premier Division clash, with debutant Mark Lovelace also on target.

Liam Ogden, Corban Oldham and sub Steven Jucikas also netted for Ian Dunn’s side, who are now just three points off the top five in tenth place.

The ex-Spalding United and Holbeach United ace felt his side were worthy winners – and admitted the scoreline could have been even more extreme.

Dunn said: “6-0 actually flattered them, if I’m honest.

“We got the job done by half time really. At 4-0 up it was done and dusted and we dictated the play.

“You know with these kind of games that you need to win the early battle. Once we clicked into gear the goals came and it was one-way traffic.”

Dunn also played tribute to new signing Lovelace, who marked his latest debut for the Knight Street club with a goal.

“We’ve needed an experienced old head like Mark up front,” added the Pinchbeck boss. “He linked the play up superbly.

“He’s not the kind of player that is going to work hard and run in behind, but we’ve really missed having somebody to hold the ball up and bring the others into play going forward.

“The squad is nicely settled now. Two more wins will see us get right back in the mix. We played three tough games early on with a relatively unsettled squad, so I was never really worried by the start.”

Pinchbeck travel to lowly Leverington on Saturday (2pm), with Dunn admitting that it’s “always a tough game” over at Church Road.
