Dan’s cool 47 raises the Division Three bar in Spalding League

In-form Dan Mayfield pocketed the top Division Three break of the Spalding and District Snooker League season so far last week – but saw his Long Sutton C side defeated.

The O21 handicapper made a super 47 break as he beat John Walker (R14) 80-42 in the second frame of a 4-2 defeat against Consti C.

Mayfield, who also trousered a 21 break, scored one more that Oliver Turner’s early-season benchmark.

Consti’s overall win was sealed in the final frame, with Chris English (R14) edging out David Lefley (scr) on the final black of the match.

With unbeaten leaders Services F not in action, Consti A took the chance to move level on points at the top with a 5-1 victory at friendly foes Consti E.

Rob Savic (R7), Paul Kent (R21), Graham Ridley (R14) and Steve Hall (R7) all won their frames to make it four victories from five.

Also boasting four wins from five matches are Consti J, who saw off Services B 4-2.

A black-ball win from Nev Vickers (R7) in the first frame proved key for the victors.

The big winners in Division Three were Gosberton C, who crushed Donington D 6-0.

Up in Division One, it’s now five wins for leaders Bourne SC A. They squeezed past Long Sutton B 4-2 thanks to Oli Player’s (O28) final frame success over Wayne Howard (O28). Steven Godfrey (O28) bagged a 32 break for defeated Sutton.

Holbeach A are two points off the pace in second having seen off Donington C 5-1, despite a super 46 break from Neil Reynolds (O49).

The top break of the week in Division One was a cracking 58 by Long Sutton A’s Sean Swinburn.

The O42 handicapper also made a solid 36, while team-mates Wayne Dent (O42) and Stuart Atkin (O42) added breaks of 37 and 32 respectively – but opponents Boundary A still won 4-2.

More impressive scores were also registered in Tulips A’s 6-0 whitewash of hosts Consti B.

Nick Savic (O35) led the way with a 42 clearance, while Bren Bowman (O56) had breaks of 36, 23 and 22.

That theme continued in Donington A’s 4-2 triumph over Holbeach D, as Tony Scully (O14) and Don Monk (O7) amassed breaks of 30 and 32 respectively.

Meanwhile, Pyramid B bounced back from last week’s first loss to win 4-2 at Consti G and go one point clear at the top of the table.

Spencer Dawkins (O48), who actually lost his frame to Dean Baker (O14), top scored with a 24 break.

Holbeach B are fourth after a 4-2 home win over Pyramid C. Neil Harvey (O14) made a 23 break in that win.

Also 4-2 winners were Consti I, as they saw off club rivals Consti H. Seb Grimston’s (O21) 24 break was in vain for the H side.
