Ben Wilson eyes title after Supersport switch

Ben Wilson has sealed a welcome return to the British Supersport Championship with the Gearlink Kawasaki team – and is already targeting the title.

The Kirton racer transferred to the British Superbike Championship in 2014 – also with Gearlink Kawasaki – but only scored a handful of points and never really gelled with the bike.

The team have also re-signed Glenn Irwin – and both riders will be challenging for race wins in 2015.

Wilson said: “I have unfinished business in the Supersport championship and the Gearlink Kawasaki machine is a proven winner.

“I had the pleasure of riding it again at Bishopscourt a couple of weeks ago and was immediately back on the pace. Supersport is where I belong and I am delighted to be riding for Norma and Michael de Bidaph once again.

“I will be going all out to win the championship for them next year.”

Gearlink Kawasaki supremo Michael de Bidaph added: “Whilst we had so much interest for the second Supersport ride from talented riders, Ben has been an integral part of the team, recording our very first win in 2009.

“Ben and I have a very special relationship, which is seldom to be found in any race team; it is only natural that I want Ben to be happy in the class that he will be riding in.”

Wilson will begin his 2015 championship challenge at Donington Park over the Easter weekend of April 4-6.
