Sisters to face each other in Spalding GC ladies’ Groom Shield showdown

Sisters Lesley Williams and Paula Brown will play each other to decide the overall winner of Spalding Golf Club ladies’ Groom Shield.

Round two of the competition was played in poor weather conditions, which resulted in only 15 ladies who qualified playing in the bogey competition.
The winner was Olive Gooderson with +2. Second was Williams with +1 and third was Ruth Atkins (all square).

Qualifiers moved to round three, but on the day only five ladies were able to play.
The winner of this round was Williams with -2. Second was Brown (-4) and third Atkins (-5).
The final round is scheduled for the middle of December.

Meanwhile, a winter Stableford competition on November 25 attracted 19 lady members. Winner, on countback, was Julie Gooderson, ahead of Elaine Hancock and Jean Wilkinson (all on 34).
