Ship Albion sail to treble on Spalding and District Darts League’s finals night

Division One champions Ship Albion added two more titles to their trophy cabinet to complete an impressive Grays of Holbeach Spalding and District Darts League treble on finals night.

Having won all 16 of their league games en-route to the title, they defeated nearest league rivals New Saracen’s Head C in the Supreme Cup final to complete a league and cup double.

The final swung in their favour thanks to a 3-0 win by Sam Roberts over Duncan Hunt with legs of 15 darts, 18 darts and 21 darts.

Not done there, Albion collected the Triples Champion of Champion trophy by beating second tier outfit Horse and Groom to sign of their season in typical style at Spalding Services Club.

There was also a double in Division Two, with league winners Tigers grabbing another gong.

Although not involved in the Secondary Cup final, they saw off Jolly Crown in the Kelly Foster Cup final to seal their own double delight.

DOUBLE: Tigers (back, from left) – Danny Goddard, Richard Brooks, George Moore, Martin Wells, Phil Horspool; front – Mick Horspool, Ian McCreery and Alan Wright.

The above mentioned Secondary final was between Old Black Lion and Consti A – two sides that finished in the top five of the standings.

This one went the way of league runners-up Consti A, who only missed out on the title by two points.

In individual competition, Claire Brookin got her hands on the Division One singles prize by beating Andrew Horspool. The Division Two version went the way of Andy Sandell, who fended off the challenge of Andy Beeken.

In the Ladies’ final it was the formidable Dawn MacTavish who lifted the crown by beating her rival Casey Hill.

Deadly duo Mark Horspool and Duncan Hunt had too much for Ash Allen and Dan Carnell in the Division One pairs, with Nick Horspool and MacTavish knocking off George Moore and Danny Goddard in the Division Two showdown.
