Edison Court

Yellow lines for trading estate

Parking restrictions on a South Holland industrial estate look set to be approved almost a year after the plan was postponed.

Members of Lincolnshire County Council’s planning and regulation committee are discussing the move on Edison Court, Pinchbeck, at a meeting on Monday.

The plan was first mooted in October 2021 and consultation letters were sent out in May last year.

There were nine objections and the matter was postponed after one of the businesses changed ownership.

It went before the committee in May 2022 and members decided to defer the decision for further assessment.

“Further visits to the site have taken place and the parking issues identified in the previous report are still evident,” says a report to go before members next week.

“It remains that the restrictions proposed at Edison Court will control persistent long term parking and ensure that access to businesses is maintained at all time.”

Alternative parking on Enterprise Way will cause no problem with traffic flow, adds the report’s author.

“It is anticipated that Enterprise Way will safely accommodate any displacement of parking from here,” it adds.

“The carriageway here is of adequate width to support parking without causing obstruction to traffic flow,” is said.

The report recommends the addition of bays for short-term parking which will be unlimited during the evening and weekend.

The left side of the road will have no waiting at any time, along with most of the hammerhead turning point. The bays will be on the opposite side interspersed with no waiting areas.

But businessman Chris Nieuwenhuizen, who runs CARS MoT and repair business, said he was perplexed as to why Edison Court was being targeted when most of the side roads on the estate were similar.

“I’m not happy about it, but will obviously abide by the decision.

“I find it a bit bizarre that this road is being highlighted when most of the roads are the same,” he said.

The original objections included worries that the one-hour wait was not long enough for some customers.
