The Lincs Gateway site in Spalding

Work on Spalding’s Lincs Gateway site to resume soon

Work on the Lincs Gateway project in Spalding is to resume this month (January).

Construction of the first parts of the 51-acre development just off the A16 at Barrier Bank began last year but was then stalled due to highways and technical issues, which have now been resolved.

Lincs Gateway, which was granted planning permission in late 2014, will include a Premier Inn hotel, Brewers Fayre pub and restaurant, conference centre, offices and a fuel station.

Michael Moran, of Moran Asset Management – one of the partners in the project along with Ashley King Developments, said such hold-ups are not uncommon in a project of this scale.

He said on Tuesday (Jan 12): “We’re progressing now, having covered off a number of technical issues.
“Over £1million has already been invested in terms of infrastructure and utilities and we’re now looking to come forward with further detailed plans and additional business occupiers in the coming months.”

Whitbread – the UK’s largest hotel, restaurant and coffee shop operator – will run the hotel and pub.

Mr Moran expects work on those buildings to commence in March with construction of the fuel station to potentially begin earlier.
He added: “Once a start is made on site, the buildings will go up quickly with their 20 to 24-week build programmes.”
