Ollie Wilson on his way to victory at the Greenfields Oval.

Wilson follows his dad’s slipstream in style

Former British Superbike and Supersport racer Ben Wilson’s eldest son Ollie is following in his dad’s tyre tracks.
Just like his dad, the 11-year-old started his racing career with the Mablethorpe Sand Racing club and has made the move up to the flat track DTRA series, riding a KTM85. He enjoyed plenty of success with four wins in the opening round at the Greenfields Oval, near Alford, in the DTRA Youth Intermediate class.
Unfazed by more experienced opposition, he took the chequered flag in all three of his races before winning the grand final.
Ben said: “Ollie showed a lot of interest in bike racing when I was racing and has been in the paddock with me at the British Superbike rounds and wanted to race as soon as he could. I could see he had promise as soon as he got on a bike.
“We were pleasantly surprised with this weekend, to take four wins against mostly older riders who have more experience is encouraging for him.”
The youngster, who is a pupil at Horncastle’s Banovallum School, is delighted with his results, which give him the championship lead on 45 points.
Wilson is looking forward to his next race in the series, at the East of England Show ground over the weekend of May 12/14.
Kime Racing rider Tom Fisher rode to two top 10 finishes in round two of the No Limits Pirelli Super series 600 championship at Cadwell Park. That moved him to fourth in the rider standings, on 66 points.
The next round is at Donington Park over the weekend of May 6/7.
