Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Thomas impresses with Main Road victory

Tydd Gote Angling Club returned to the North Level at Main Road for last week’s club match – but found the drain out of sorts in the prolonged dry weather.

Martyn Thomas, on peg 28, was the stand out performer with three bites, two fish and first place with his two bream for 7lb 6oz.

Thomas had a bream first cast to double worm and followed it up half an hour later with a bigger specimen to just edge out Archie Greenwood’s 7lb 4oz on peg 29.

Greenwood had a lovely net of roach up to a pound to his groundbait and pinkie approach and but for a dropped fish late on would have taken the win.

Ian Benton was on peg 16 and included a 3lb bream with his smaller fish for 4lb 12oz and third spot, just pushing Andy Spencer’s 4lb 11oz of quality roach to pinkie over hemp from peg 32 into fourth.

Wednesday Open (Main Road): 1st Paul Spriggs 6lb 2oz; 2nd Jon Young 5lb 4oz; 3rd John Taylor 2lb 10oz. Thursday Evening Club Match: 1st Sammy McSpadden 6lb 8oz; 2nd Pete Emery 6lb 4oz; 3rd Andy Lawrence2lb 4oz.
