Tulips look to finalise play-off spot

Spalding United are still looking to clinch a Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands Division promotion play-off place after a 1-0 defeat to Coleshill Town on Saturday and postponement on Monday.
Elliot Sandy’s side only need one win at most from their final two games to secure a top five finish and a home tie in the semi-finals.
But they’ve been made to wait to do that after the weekend defeat.
Monday’s scheduled game t Stamford was called off because of a water-logged pitch.
Instead the game has been re-arranged for tomorrow (Thursday).
Third placed Spalding host 16th placed Gresley Rovers at the Sir Halley Stewart on Saturday before a trip to fourth placed Sporting Khalsa on the final day of the season, Saturday, April 22.
Tonight’s opponents Stamford won’t have anything to play for after second placed Halesowen Town’s 3-0 home defeat to Sutton Coldfield ensured they will be champions.
The Tulips were unable to get the win they were looking for at home on Saturday as Coleshill, the side in sixth and just outside the play-off spots, held on for a 1-0 win.
It was a frustrating afternoon for Spalding as they carved out chances but were unable to take them.
Ngwa had a goal ruled out for offside while Broccoli and Rolt also went close in the first half.
Broccoli also put a decent chance over in the second half, but the Tulips were undone in the 81st minute when they failed to clear a long throw-in into the box wasn’t dealt with and Josh Willis’ shot bobbled into the net.
Spalding were unable to respond late on.
Tulips: Duggan, Bucciero, Warburton, Barker, Stainfield, Cartwright, Broccoli, (Clifton 72), Draper, Rolt (Poulter 77), Hilliard, Ngwa (Ansu 58); Subs: Peters, Sandy.
Attendance: 267.
