Tight battle sees Skoulding triumph

Just two shots separated the first five finishers at the Tydd St Giles Autumn Open.
It took countback to decide the eventual winner with Steve Skoulding taking the honours after matching Gino Ciuffini’s 66 total.
Skoulding completed his round in 87, with a handicap of 21, while Ciuffini went round in 80 but with a handicap of 14.
Wayne Alder took third place, one shot behind on 77-10, with Paul Jackson claiming fourth on countback with a score of 68 (89-21).
The Division One winner was Mark Cooper with a score of 68 (81-13). Countback was needed to decide the next three places after they tied on 69 shots. Graeme Barritte prevailed for second place
(85-16), Brad Simpson was third (82-13) and Derek Kneebone came fourth (83-14).
Division Two was also a close run affair behind winner Keith Crowson (97-28=69). Second on countback was Ian Millett (93-23=70), ahead of Andrew Palmer (95-25) and Lee Smith (88-18).
Nearest the pin on the fourth hole was Luke Rowell and Jimmy Dack took the award for the eighth. Nearest the pin on the 11th was Jimmy Woods, on the 13th Darren Jimson and 16th Dack.
Nearest the pin in two on the 18th hole was Kevin Goude.
Club captain Andy Hicks thanked all for taking part, expressing appreciation to Ciuffini and his helpers for organising the event, the green staff for the excellent condition of the course, also the chef, the bar staff and ‘Karen’ for doing the job of starter.
A total of £710 was raised from the raffle, all of which will go into the captain’s charity pot for the Holbeach hospital.
