Tigers seal emotional win

Holbeach United 2
Cornard United 0

Holbeach United celebrated the life of former player Adam Jackson on Saturday before comfortably seeing off Cornard United.
After a minute’s applause and with the 34-year-old who died last week’s young family in attendance, first half goals from John Yambasu and Finley Henderson sealed a comfortable win.
“It was a very tough and difficult day and we wanted the game to go as well as possible regardless of the result,” said manager Danny Clifton. “But both on and off the pitch the lads were brilliant.
“A few were quite emotional but they all dealt with it professionally.
“As a team we were brilliant.
“We had a few injuries and suspensions so had to bring a few in from the reserves including Kelvin Ibreheme off the bench, but they all looked at home at that level in front of our biggest attendance in some time.
“Max Rigby had to make a couple of saves that you’d expect him to make, but at no point did I think we were going to lose the game.”
Holbeach will be looking for another win as they travel to Needham Market U23s on Saturday in the Thurlow Nunn Division One North.
Tigers: Rigby, Cook, Nicholson, Oldham, F Henderson, Carter, Bilicz, Millinson, Davies, Frost, Yambasu. Subs: Waters, Masnita, Richardson, Wirkowski, Ibreheme.
Attendance: 217.
