Tigers now set to replay fixture

Holbeach United say they will now send some sort of side to Harwich in Essex after the league fined them £500 for not fulfilling the fixture they won 4-2 a month ago.
After the referee failed to send off a Tigers’ player in the 87th minute of that game, the Thurlow Nunn League said the game should be replayed on April 1.
Citing costs of £1,300 to make the 200-mile, five-hour round trip again, Holbeach told the league they wouldn’t play it and would forfeit the points and expected a £150 fine.
Instead though the league has fined Holbeach £500 and ordered the game to be played again on a Tuesday night, or face another £500 fine.
Manager Danny Clifton says he and many of his players aren’t able to make the fixture because of work.
“It’s really ridiculous,” he said. “They’ve fined us £500 for not attending the fixture despite us telling them we’d forfeit, which they didn’t respond too, so we presumed they were fine with that.
“It’s a joke however we now feel we’ve got no choice but to play it when we don’t have half the players and I can’t attend.
“We’ve asked the league to be able to register a few more of the reserves to feature, but as it’s past the deadline to register, they’ve said no.
“They’ve said no to everything we’ve asked. I don’t know why they’re trying to punish us.”
Holbeach bounced back on the pitch with a resounding 4-0 win over Leiston Reserves thanks to goals from Ryan Cook, Callum Davies, George Frost and Finlay Henderson.
It was a swift response to a 3-2 defeat to the same opposition after which Clifton accused the opposition of playing first team players in the game.
“It was a completely different XI on Saturday,” he said. “We played well to be fair and it became very easy, so easy we became complacent for 15 minutes and they had a bit of a spell.
“But otherwise we were pretty good and should have scored more than four.
“As I said to them last week, it shows in midweek we effectively play a step three side from three levels higher and we matched them.”
Tigers: Rigby, Barnes, Carter, Cook, Davies, Frost, Henderson, Nicholson, Oldham, Wirkowski, Yambasu. Subs: Bilicz, Drury Robertson.
Attendance: 109.
