It was only a few weeks ago that I was writing a column regarding the change of management at Spalding United.

This past week has seen a change at the top at Holbeach United – which also effects myself.

The football club has since released a statement regarding the changes and why they decided to act (see right-hand side of the page).

Late on Thursday, Tom Roberts and I were asked to take charge of matters until the end of the season.

At 25 it’s not something I thought about doing but it’s also not something I will shy away from.

We have a great bunch of lads and players at Holbeach, who we will be looking to keep together.

There is still a lot to play for and we are at the business end of the table, so over the next coming months let’s see what we can put together.

Over the Christmas period we find ourselves playing teams in and around us – so we are heading into a difficult run of games, but games we are looking forward to.

With Saturday’s away fixture at Kirby Muxloe being cancelled, it gave the players, Tom Roberts and I the chance to get together and talk about immediate plans and what we are going to do moving forward.

At this point, I would like to place on record my thanks to Darren for his time at Holbeach.

He came in when the club was left reeling following a host of departures and leaves us in a healthy position in the table.

I would like to think in a few weeks or months he will look back at his time at Holbeach with a smile of achievement for the results he helped achieve.
