The first stage of park upgrade now complete

Youngsters in Quadring have more reason to get outside in the fresh air thanks to an upgrade to the village park.

After a successful UKSPF GRASSroots grant, the upgrade on St Margaret’s Play Park has been completed, and now offers a new zip-line and three new items within the adventure trail, including a combo unit wavy bars and cross beams.
The project started in April last year, and the parish council has made sure that quality play equipment was installed at the best price to help reduce the cost to villagers.
Coun Andrew Jackson, of Quadring Parish Council, said: “We used Playdale Playgrounds for this instalment within the park.
“They were very helpful with guiding us through options for replacement equipment to the space we had to minimise the disruption to the remaining play area.
“The installers were extremely helpful and polite to everyone as the park is surrounded by houses.
“I have not heard a bad word said about the install work, so we are grateful for their hard work.
“Without financial assistance we would not have been in the position to deliver this play equipment in one go, so the parish council would like to thank the Lincolnshire Community foundation for the UKSPF GRASSroots grant, district councillors Jane King and Henry Bingham for their donations out of their ward budgets, and TransFlor LTD for their donation.
“The feedback I have had from families using the park has all been positive.
“It’s been a while since our old zip-line was removed and many people are enjoying using this again.”
At their February meeting the parish council decided that now section one of the park is completed they should try to continue the momentum, so they are in the process of trying to find some more funding and quotes for replacement swings (hopefully with a inclusive seat), some new inclusive picnic benches (these are longer on one side to allow wheelchairs to be pushed up to them), as well as the possibility of more replacement parts for the adventure trail.
Coun Jackson added: “With a care home and Sense charity being within the village we feel it would be nice to make this park more user friendly for all.”
