The Voice of Spalding and South Holland
Ladies from 29 different clubs competed in the Summer Am-Am at Spalding Golf Club.
The event was played in a Stableford competition for teams of four and, although chilly for the early starters, was held in glorious sunshine.
With three out of four scores to count on the first nine and two on the second, the competition was tough but some magnificent scores were achieved.
The winners were Cathy Lee, Viv Stanton, Louise Bradley and Karen Parsonage from Toft Hotel with 96 points.
Second were Hazel Mayes, Judy King, Elaine Otley and Angela Storey from Lakeside Lodge with 93.
Gill Lamming (Sleaford), Elaine Hancock (Spalding), Stella Goldstein (Lincoln) and Chris Sherrif (Boston) came third with 88.
Fourth on countback were Lesley Williams, Anne Ellis (Spalding), Sarah Gibson (Boston West) and Sue Orwin (Macclesfield) with 87.
Karen Freezer, Fan Brown, Sally Bettinson and Christine Bell from King’s Lynn with 87 finished in fifth place
There were nine winners of the 2’s competition, each winning a dozen golf balls.
They were: Lorraine Robinson (Toft), Gill Leverton (Louth), Maggie Muir (Blankney), Margaret Rippin (Rutland County), Shirley Osbourne (Brampton Park), Judy King (Lakeside Lodge), Debra Ward (Spalding), Judy Downwood (Belton Woods) and Sarah Oldham (March).
Angela Roper claimed victory in the Medal day competition organised for the ladies at Spalding.
Roper recorded a nett 72 which resulted in a handicap cut from 12 to 11. Second was Avril Norton (78) with Matilde Kedzlie (79) third.
Spalding Ladies recorded a 2.5-1.5 victory over a visiting team from Sutton Bridge.
Results: Paula Brown & Anne Ellis halved, Ruth Atkins & Mo Wallace lost 6&5, Anita Cross & Maureen Orwell won 4&3, Beryl Clay & Lynda Double won 5&4.
They then entertained Belton Park A and Tydd St Giles in two matches on the same day.
Honours were even after a 2-2 draw for Spalding A in the league match against Belton while the friendly against Tydd St Giles resulted in a 2.5-1.5 victory for the hosts.

v Tydd – Hannah Thorold & Dina Reedman won 4&3, Jacquie Claire & Mags Philby halved, Avril Norton & Carole Holland lost 2&1, Sue Watson & Wendy Revill won 3&1.
