Swim school looks to make splash in Spalding with new pool

A business that teaches people to swim is looking to create a new swimming pool in Spalding.

Billie’s Fins Swim School has applied to South Holland District Council for permission to change the use of an industrial unit on Fleming Road, off Enterprise Way for ‘assembly and leisure’.

The company currently runs its paid-for swimming lessons from Eye Primary School.

But it hopes to create the purpose-built facility in a unit currently a part of Four Seasons House.

Billie’s Fins Swim School was founded in 2015 and says it currently caters for over 400 pupils each week.

The application states lessons would run from around 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 3pm Saturday and 9am to 12.30pm Sundays and sessions would be capped at seven students per lesson.

The car park would be reduced from 25 to 21 spaces by the creation of disabled spaces.

The Design and Access statement for the application, states: “Establishing a strong client base over the last four years, the applicant is now looking to move into their own bespoke facility, where they can offer greater choice of services and class times to suit their customers needs and ultimately secure the future of the business as it continues to grow.

“The applicant has previously looked at a number of other sites within the South Holland District and surrounding areas, but feels that this particular site offers them greater flexibility to support their growing customer base as well as the scope to provide the facilities expected from a modern swimming school.”
