Super Tydd St Mary smash eight past ten-man Whittlesey

Tydd St Mary continued their impressive form with an 8-0 annihilation of ChromaSport PDFL Division Three rivals Whittlesey Athletic B on Saturday.

With Whittlesey turning up to Memorial Park with just ten men, it only took 12 minutes for the Saints to open the scoring.

That came from a great Scott Pemberton knock back for Darren Rawthorn to strike home.

On 27 minutes Tim Lowe made it 2-0, again set up by man-of-the- match Pemberton.

It was 3-0 ten minutes later when a Nick Reims corner was flicked on by Rawthorn for Dan Piccaver to glance into the net.

The Saints came out flying in the second half and were 6-0 up within three minutes of the restart. Pemberton set up Lowe to strike home on 46 minutes, the Reims pulled a great ball back from the byline to set up Stu Easey to fire home on 47 minutes. Lowe then returned the favour to tee up Pemberton to strike on 48 minutes.

On 63 minutes Easey made it 7-0 with a fine individual goal. The Saints could have had more had it not been for a dogged Whittlesey defence and some superb goalkeeping.

However, Tydd made it 8-0 with just three minutes to go when Paul Clarke floated a great cross over that was headed clear and fell nicely for Ian Thrower to superbly volley home his first goal for the club.

Boss Carl Wilson said: “It was a great display. We bossed the match from the off and were ruthless.

“We are in a good place at the moment but have a tough schedule of matches ahead of us.”
