Take a step back in time to the 1940s this weekend with a visit to Woodhall Spa

The Woodhall Spa 40s Festival takes place this Saturday and Sunday and offers a great weekend out for all the family – and best of all it’s free entry.

Entertainers include Miss Sarah-Jane, Katie Mustang, Major Swing, The Blitz Dancers, Lola Lamour, Brandyn Shaw, Heather Marie and The Lancashire Belle, Miss Jane Francis.

The 2014 Festival will have living history and re-enactor groups both in Jubilee Park and the Woods adjacent to the park en route to the centre of the village itself.

Groups taking part this year include Road To Mandalay, C troop Reconnaissance Squadron, Kahki Bloomers, Birdog Group, Foxhole Fugitives, Poor Bloody Infantry and the Lincs Re-enactment Display Group.

Civilian vintage vehicles will be displayed at The Inn in the centre of Woodhall, while the military vintage vehicles will be positioned on Coronation Road next to the living history displays in the woods.

There will be 57 civilian vehicles and over 40 military vehicles on show including M8 Armoured Car, Daimler Dingo, Bren Gun Carrier, Fordson WOT1,Canadian Ford and Dodge WC52.

The Wartime Woodhall History Tours start from the roundabout and take about 30 minutes. The tour describes the wartime historic role of Woodhall Spa from the Tall Boy bombs to Op Market Garden.

The 40s trade stalls and charity stalls are located in Jubilee Park and offer a wide selection from art to confectionery.

There will be Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Flypasts on both days involving a Spitfire, Hurricane, Dakota and Lancaster.

Over and above all this there are lots of displays and events happening throughout the weekend around the village.
