The Voice of Spalding and South Holland
Spalding United climbed back into the Evo-Stik NPL First Division South play-off places with a battling 2-1 home win over Kidsgrove Athletic on Saturday.
An early Tom Waumsley strike (4) and an own goal from keeper Ben Chapaman (12) put the Tulips in command at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, before Kidsgrove skipper Ant Malbon pulled one back (20).
Both sides had chances after that, with Spalding keeper Michael Duggan ending up as man of the match as his side climbed two places to fifth in the table.
Elsewhere, both Moulton Harrox and Pinchbeck United suffered penalty shoot-out heartache in the PFA Senior Cup.
Moulton drew an amazing battle with Premier Division title rivals Whittlesey Athletic 4-4, but were dumped out 5-3 on spot-kicks.
Meanwhile, Pinchbeck were held 2-2 by Langtoft United at Knight Street, before losing the shoot-out 5-4.
Elsewhere in the PDFL, Crowland Town upset Holbeach United Reserves 1-0 at Snowden Field to do their Premier Division survival hopes the power of good.
