Emma Fisher is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Spalding mum to Brave the Shave for cancer charity

A Spalding mum is about to have the shortest haircut of her life – to raise money for a cancer charity.

Emma Fisher, pictured right, will be having her head shaved, in public, to help a charity very close to her heart.
When she was ten years old her mum Jayne Bycraft died from cancer. She was nursed by Macmillan Cancer Support during her illness.
Then Emma’s uncle, Jayne’s brother-in-law, Jont Bycraft died in 2014 from the disease, aged 46, and he was also nursed by Macmillan.
So fundraising for the charity has been part of life for Emma, who hopes to raise at least £500 from her headshave.
Under the charity’s Brave the Shave banner, she will be outside the South Holland Centre in Spalding on Saturday, August 26 when best friend Donna Young will do the honours and leave Emma feeling the chill.
But her hair won’t go to waste as it will be used by another charity to create wigs for people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.
Her mum was just 29 years old when she died in 1996 and Emma has already completed a skydive and Race for Life to help the charity which helped her family at the time.
“I wanted to do something a bit different this time,” she said.
Her sons Daniel (16 months) and Freddie (2), will be supporting her charity effort later this month.
