Spalding Golf Club trio book place in last four of Bramley Singles event

Spalding Golf Club’s men’s first team progressed through to the semi-finals of the Bramley Singles thanks to a great away win at Sudbrook Moor.

The successful trio representing Spalding were Keith Hearne, Ollie Mitchell and Jonathan Mason, who won 2-1.

  • No pairings lost as Spalding’s 1st team beat Burghley Park 5-1 at the Surfleet course on Saturday.

Hugo Kedzlie and Callum Lewis won 6&4, Dan Hines and Dave Whisker won 7&6, Rich McCrae and Ollie Mitchell won 4&2, Rich Laud and Spennie Gooderson won 6&5, Keith Hearne and

Jonathan Mason halved and Wayne Wallace and Harry Hunt getting halves.

  • Spalding 2nd were 3.5-2.5 winners at Blankney Park on Saturday.

The wins came from Matt Richardson and Miles Foden (6&5), Lawrie Hayley and Phil Wakefield (2&1) and Mal Wray and Tom Langford (2&1), while Darren Ford and Simon Rothwell halved.

The pairs of Mark Cooley and Phil Tweddell (2&1) and Dave Perrot and Shaun Gough (2 down) were both beaten.

  • Spalding 3rd enjoyed a 4.5-1.5 victory over Sandilands on a sun-drenched Surlfeet course on Sunday.

The winning pairs were Stu Parker and Mark Sanderson, Sam Sampson and Brendan D’Abreo and Rick Denton and Lee Nicholson. Roy Portass and Ian Ford halved, while Andy Green played a single pair and won a point for the team.

  • Spalding’s seniors found the going tough on the Hodgkin Course at Woodhall Spa as they lost 6.5-1.5.

Rick Edwards and Steve Leggett managed a 5&4 win, while Peter Bridge and Andy Reedman halved.

But there were defeats for Jim Dobson and John Keeton (3&2), Rod Hunt and David Brotherton (4&3),

Mike Gould and Bernard Herbert (5&3), Howard Greaves and John Walker (4&3), John Dorward and Alan Pritchard (7&6) and Gary King and Lester Pybus (6&4).
