Snooker round-up: Whitewash win over rivals sees Boundary A race clear

It was a big week for Boundary A in the race for the Spalding and District League Division Two title as they crushed title rivals Consti G 6-0 to go clear at the top of the table.

Frame wins from Pete King (scr), Andy Mowforth (O7), John Tidswell (O14), Jim McGhee (scr) and Stewart Lilley (scr) fired the Deepings team to a whitewash win on Thursday night and a six-point advantage at the summit.

The loss leaves Consti 11 points off the pace in fourth, with Long Sutton B having leapfrogged them following a 4-2 success at second-placed Pyramid D in the other big game of the week.

At the other end of the table, Consti B did their hopes of survival the power of good with a 5-1 victory at Gosberton A. Their wins came from John Christian (R14), Martin Fear (scr), John Keeton (O14) and Fear again.

Up in Division One, the table proved that it doesn’t lie as leaders Holbeach A defeated rock-bottom hosts Services F 5-1.

Oliver Turner (O21) made a 23 break for the Spalding side, but it was in vain as Holbeach prevailed to extend their lead at the top to a healthy 11 points.

With the teams in second and third not in action, fourth-placed Donington took full advantage by beating Bourne SC A 5-1.

Neil Reynolds (O49) impressed with a 47 break for the victors, while Mark Gray’s (O105) 40 break was in vain for the Bourne hosts.

Away from the race for silverware, Bren Bowman (O56) racked up the best break of the week.

He reeled off a fine 53 for Tulips A, but saw his side defeated 4-2 at home by Holbeach D. Don Monk (R7) even beat Bowman 87-78, making a 23 break in the process.

Also on-song were Long Sutton A, who dispatched Services C 5-1. Mat Smith (O35) bagged breaks of 31 and 23 in that one, while team-mate Wayne Dent (O35) added a cool 30.

Pyramid A enjoyed a 5-1 win too as Victor Rouse (scr) managed a 26 break in their triumph at Donington A.

Down in Division Three, just five points covers the top four in an exciting title race.

Leaders Donington B lost 4-2 at home against Gosberton B, with Simon Slinger (R7) sealing the points in the final frame.

That allowed second-placed Long Sutton C to close two within three points of them with a 5-1 victory over Consti J.

Holbeach E are a further point back after Ben Harding’s (O21) final frame heroics helped see of Andy Gebbie (R14) on the last black to see off Whittlesey A 4-2.

One point worse off are Consti A in fourth after they beat Donington D 4-2 despite Jay Kyle’s (scr) 22 break.
