Snooker round-up: Nice and three-sy as leading duo stay perfect in top tier

Two teams still boast 100 per cent records after three rounds of fixtures in Division One of the Spalding and District Snooker League.

Holbeach A lead the way after they saw off previously unbeaten Donington C 4-2 in a tight tussle, taking their tally to 15 points.

Jem Merrison’s (O35) 25 break was the highlight for them, while Mick Ayres Jnr (R14) won the decisive frame.

A point behind them are Pyramid B, after they made it three wins from as many matches too.

Tulips A were their victims, with a 35 break from Alfonso Palumbo (O49) helping him win the match-clinching final frame on the Spalding baize.

Two points further back in third are Holbeach USC D, who defeated Services E 4-2 despite a 22 break from Vince Fitter (O28).

The big winners in the top tier were Long Sutton A, who walloped Bourne SC A 6-0 to register their first success of the season so far.

Mat Smith (O35) sank a 29 break for them.

Also collecting their maiden triumph of the campaign were Holbeach C, who handed hosts Donington A a 5-1 reverse to leave them bottom of the pile.

In Division Two, both Pyramid D and Services A kept their 100 per cent records alive with 4-2 wins.

Services saw off visitors Consti H as Pete Mullane (O21) reeled off a 24 break, while Pyramid handed hosts Crowland A their first defeat of this campaign.

Level on points with the top two are Boundary A, who brushed Gosberton A aside 5-1. Andy Mowforth’s (O7) 25 clearance was the high point for the Deepings side.

Elsewhere in the second tier, both Boundary C and Holbeach B bagged their first wins of the season.

A 27 break from Daz King (O7) helped steer Boundary to a 4-2 victory at Consti I, while Holbeach B edged past Long Sutton B by the same score despite Carl Parnell’s (O28) 25 break.

Down in Division Three, red-hot Long Sutton C continued their flawless start to the new season by whitewashing Consti A 6-0.

Dan Mayfield (O28) was on particularly fine form for them, making an impressive 28 break in frame two.

They are already four points clear of second-placed Whittlesey A, who beat Donington D 5-1.

One point behind them are Donington B, after they edged to the narrowest of 4-2 wins over Whittlesey B.

In a game that saw Michael Foster (O14) reel off a 26 break, Mick Clark’s (R7) black ball success over Andy Skutela (R14) at the death settled it in Donington’s favour.

Meanwhile, Gosberton B made it two wins from as many matches with a 5-1 home triumph against Consti E. Their frame victories came from Joe Lewsey (scr), Ady Halgarth (R14), Simon Slinger (R7) and Stuart Ruskin (R7).
