BIG BREAK: But Mark Gray's 75 isn't eligible for the end of season award as he's an ex-professional.

Snooker round-up: Gray hits his Mark to bag Bourne boys a whitewash

Cue ace Mark Gray sank the first big break of the Spalding and District Snooker League season on Thursday as his Bourne SC A kicked their campaign off in the best possible way.

Ex-professional Gray (O105 handicap) racked up a super 74 break to help secure a 6-0 victory over Donington A in Division One – but that only tells half of the story.

All five frames in the clash went to the final black, making the whitewash incredibly harsh on the visitors.

Oliver Player concluded the victory with a cool 22 clearance for the Bourne side.

Staying in the top flight, a host of sides made it two wins from two.

That includes Holbeach A, who top the table after a super 6-0 success over club mates Holbeach C.

Mick Ayres Jnr (R14) starred in that one with a solid 20 break.

A point back in second are Pyramid B, who made it back-to-back 5-1 victories by seeing off Long Sutton A.

Jason Green (O63) made a 25 clearance for the Bourne side, a break matched by Sutton’s Matt Smith (O35).

Services E also remained perfect by knocking off visitors Tulips A 5-1 with Chris Dunmore (O7) making a 33 break.

Donington C are the other side to have won both of their games after a battling 4-2 success over Consti F.

Neil Reynolds (O49) lit up that clash with a 38 break and a 39 clearance.

In Division Two, Crowland A and Gosberton A both have nine points.

Crowland were 5-1 winners at Consti H, while a 23 break from Adam Twigg (O14) helped steer Gosberton to a victory of the same score over visitors Consti I.

Pyramid D are just a point behind their early pace-setters after bagging their second 4-2 win of the campaign. They saw off visitors Boundary A.

Services A are the other side with a pair of wins after edging past friendly foes Services C 4-2.

Elsewhere in the second tier, Dave Ramage’s (O28) 27 clearance helped Crowland B see off Consti G 4-2, while Phil Goodman’s (O35) 27 break capped Long Sutton B’s 5-1 win over Pyramid C.

Down in Division Three, it’s Long Sutton C who are setting the early pace after a narrow 4-2 win at Pyramid E.

A 24 break from John Clapton (R7) couldn’t stop Sutton, with Susan Lefley (R21), Dan Mayfield (O28) and David Lefley (scr) all securing frame wins.

Also on-song were Holbeach E, who secured their first win of the season by beating Services D 5-1.

They were buoyed by breaks of 32 and 21 from Lee Pickett (O14) and Zac Rowlett (O14) respectively.
