HUGE BREAK: Mark Gray made 99 for Bourne SC A.

Snooker round-up: Four-some Bourne SC A extend flawless start in top flight

A monstrous 99 break from Mark Gray helped Bourne SC A make it four wins from as many Division One games in the Spalding and District Snooker League on Thursday night.

Ex-pro Gray (O105 handicap) made the stellar score en-route to defeating Andy Mowforth (O14) in the 6-0 success over Boundary A, as they moved four points clear at the top.

Team-mates Max Ayliff (O14) and Oliver Player (O21) also chipped in with breaks of 39 and 27 respectively for the Bourne boys, while John Tidswell (O7) made a 22 clearance in vain for beaten Boundary.

Holbeach D, meanwhile, are third after edging to a 4-2 victory at Tulips A – who are still seeking a first wins.

Nic Savic (O42) sank a superb 49 break for the rock-bottom Spalding side, but wins from Donald Monk (scr) and Ian Woodberry (O7) in the final two frames saw Holbeach home.

Also without a win are Tulips B, who went down 4-2 at fourth-placed Boundary B.

Dan Smith (O14) made a 20 break for the Deepings side in a key black-ball win over Joe Garland (O7).

Another close clash saw Consti F dispatch Long Sutton A 4-2. Sean Swinburn (O42) bagged breaks of 31 and 24 for beaten Sutton, but the pivotal moment saw Warren Peel (O7) beat Steve Dent (scr) on a re-spotted black.

The score was also 4-2 in the all-club affair between Pyramid A and Pyramid B. The win went the way of the A side, despite a 23 break and 22 clearance from the in-form Spencer Dawkins (O49).

It was far more one-sided as Holbeach C dealt Donington a 5-1 defeat, though. Chrissy Allwood’s (O7) 22 clearance was in vain for Donington.

In Division Two, Boundary C and Services C have identical records at the top.

Boundary were 5-1 winners at Long Sutton B with Josh Aggar (O7) making a 22 clearance to clinch the victory. Carl Parnell’s (O28) 28 break was scant consolation for Sutton.

Services C were 5-1 winners too, putting hosts Consti H to the sword.

Nigel Cherry’s (O14) 27 clearance was their highlight.

Just behind them are Holbeach B, who handed Crowland A a 4-2 reverse in a game that saw Zac Rowlett (O21) reel off a 31 break.

Level pegging with them are Whittlesey C. They beat promoted Long Sutton C 5-1 and were only denied a whitewash win by Keith Wells’ (O35) 35 break in a final frame triumph on the black.

Hot on their heels are Donington A after their handsome 5-1 win over Services F. Paul Whyte (R14) settled that one in the penultimate frame.

Elsewhere, breaks of 24 and 20 from Gav Lewis (scr) and Jon Barnes (O14) lit up Donington B’s narrow 4-2 victory over Consti G.

There were also 4-2 wins for Services A and Pyramid D over Gosberton A and Pyramid C respectively.

Down in Division Three, it’s Crowland C who are setting the red-hot pace.

They are being matched by Consti C, who saw off Bourne SC B 4-2 to keep their own 100 per cent record alive – albeit after three games.

They are four points clear after a fourth win on the bounce, with Jim Howe (O35) pocketing breaks of 36 and 25 in their 5-1 beating of second-placed Consti I.

The best break at this level came from Martin Perkins (O21), who reeled off a cool 30 in Consti D’s 4-2 victory over Whittlesey B.

Only one side managed a maximum 6-0 return in the basement division. That was Consti A, who whitewashed Consti J in a game that was closer than the score suggests.

Also winning well were Gosberton B, who saw off Donington D 5-1 to land their maiden triumph of the campaign.

That 5-1 scoreline was matched by Pyramid E, who had a little too much for a Consti E side that they leapfrogged into third place.
