The Voice of Spalding and South Holland
In-form Moulton Harrox made it three wins on the trot in South Lincs and Border League Premier Division after an impressive 83-run success at Market Deeping 2nd on Saturday.
Jack Barnett was the star man at Outgang Road, top scoring with 41 as Moulton were all out for 234 batting first before then taking fine figures of 4-43 to help clean up the hosts for 151.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Barnett and skipper Chris Beale (36) gave Harrox a strong start.
Henry Lavery (39), Travis Harrison (24) and Lee Eyett (18) also contributed nicely to help Moulton to a strong score in their 45 overs.
Deeping’s reply just never got going despite a 30 from Javad Ghani, with Thuva Murali (3-34), Harrison (2-38) and Matt Rose (1-13) backing up Barnett nicely to seal the 20 points.
The win moves Moulton up to seventh ahead of Saturday’s South Holland derby with Long Sutton at Broad Lane (1pm).
Sutton, meanwhile, suffered a five-wicket defeat against Bourne 2nd at Paradise Field.
After being put into bat, Dan Oldfield (48) and Calvin Bird (24) scored nicely but saw wickets tumble elsewhere as they were bowled out for 134 in just 37.1 overs.
Charlie Crisp (2-60) and Jake Burton (2-19) took a brace of wickets as Sutton attempted to bowl Bourne out cheaply, but James Tickler’s 50 steered them to 138-5 in reply.
In Division One, Moulton Harrox 2nd slipped off the summit after losing to Orton Park 2nd by 46 runs.
Big scores from Mark Durham (94) and Navnet Agnihotri (90) inspired Orton’s 277-8, with Curtis Todd (4-69) the stand-out Moulton bowler.
Moulton’s reply was good with Lewis Martin (46) and Karl Hibbert (44) on-song, but they were all out for 231.
Harrox 2nd are now five points behind new leaders Newborough with a trip to Ancaster next on their agenda this Saturday (1pm).
Down in Division Two, Spalding 3rd suffered an agonising one-wicket home loss against Castor and Ailsworth 2nd.
Barnaby Dring (59) and George Morris (40) impressed in Spalding’s 174-7 at Seas End Hall, but not even Michael Morris’ 3-35 could halt Castor as Kev Johnson’s 47 fired them to a very edgy 178-9 in with four balls to spare.
